How difficult is the courseload and material for some current duke pre med students? Roughly 40% of freshmen come in wanting to be pre med, but by the time med school results come in, only about 85-100 people get in to medical school. Most freshmen come in and think "alright B- average not bad, I'll just be above average and get a B or a B+." The classes are hard for all majors. I big reason I chose Duke over UCB/UCLA was for better medical school advising and preparation. All my classes started to show me the uglier side of medicine that I was sheltered from in those A.P. Which brings me to my next point:

^yeah, pre-law wouldn't work for me. That said, study times vary widely. However, the bottom line is to your question is that you are definitely going to have to sacrifice some things ; how much you have to sacrifice depends on where you fall on the grading curve.

If you're taking orgo, then yeah, it might be about 10 hours a week. Just like for the SAT, Duke likely doesn't have a hard ACT cutoff, but if you score too low, your application will get tossed in the trash.

Having been offered a likely I wanted to know what I am in for. pre-med is hard! "Pre-med" is the term people use to show that they want to go to med school and are taking the classes they need to get there. The application fee at Duke University is $95. Having a bad GPA at a really tough program is not necessarily a bad thing. Duke has good classes, good professors, and smart students. Some of these courses are math 31,32; chem 151, 152(orgo), Bio 25,26,118; chem 21,22. I need to go to a school where I can get good science grades.
